Went to Chinatown today to get a feel of the CNY atmosphere. My downtrodden mood was further dampened by the downpour that lasted about 15 min. The number of people was much less than I expected. It might be due to the heavy rain, or the fading of the novelty. I could see expressions of gloominess hung on the stallholders’ faces. This is in stark contrast to the fireworks that lit the sombre skies at the nearby Explanade. Somehow, the CNY festive mood was simply not there…
